Your Teaching Style, Your Way
The Sparklers’ Club celebrates every approach to art education.
Teaching Approaches You’ll Discover:
“My biggest struggle is feeling competent in teaching art, since I have no formal training and do not consider myself artistic. It means so much to me to have the lessons, tools and tips that make me LOOK competent, even when I might not feel that way.”
— Michelle Gifford, 2nd Grade Teacher
“I was so out of sync and unprepared today. Thank goodness for DSS! Log in, rush to school, pull sharpies, cut paper, and find the box of paints. Done. It made me realize that slowing down and not 'over' planning allows me to just ease into the joy of art.”
— Stephanie Wagner Hitchcock
ART TEACHER
“I teach in a Special Needs & Alternative Behavior K-12 school and TSC material has been so easy to adapt for my students. I am no longer spending my weekends scaffolding and creating new content.”
— April Lynn
SPECIAL NEEDS TEACHER
“...I love that the lessons are broken down with visual steps, I love the videos, the handouts, the writing components, the standards.
With The Sparklers Club, I feel more focused and organized. I have told all my family and friends to join — it has truly changed my life.”
— Sonia Sanchez Lloyd
ART TEACHER
“TSC is the most comprehensive program I've ever seen. Thank you so much!
I am so grateful for all the experienced awesome art teachers here. The fool proof lessons, the available class levels, the training... and most of all..... the support! Thank you for helping me through this year's curriculum.”
— Donna May Brunet
HOMESCHOOL ART TEACHER
Hi, I'm Patty Palmer; the founder of Deep Space Sparkle and an art teacher just like you.
After teaching for 13 years in 3 public elementary schools, I know the realities of teaching art.
When I first got started as a teacher, I was definitely thrown into the deep end.
It was up to me to know which projects to teach, which supplies to use, and which artists to study.
And, like many art teachers, I put a lot of pressure on myself to be the best possible teacher for my students:
And, most of all, I wanted my class to feel inspired and have fun!
But without a curriculum, my attempts at lessons ran over time, or quickly spiraled into a class of restless and disengaged students. Add in the demands of parent and teacher expectations, prep, and classroom management, I wondered if I was cut out to be a teacher.
Then, I recognized something that changed everything... When kids are interested and engaged, that’s when the magic happens.
I began to experiment, test and tweak my lessons to match up with how students process art and express their creativity at different ages.
With these lessons, my students couldn't wait to come to art.
They explored paint, got messy with pastels, found solutions through drawing and gained confidence in their artistic ability. They created art and proudly showed it off to their parents.
… And the best part of all?
I recorded my ideas and lessons on my blog, Deep Space Sparkle so I could share my art program with others.
My role as the art teacher became focused on getting to know my students through art.
By experimenting with lessons that explored techniques through a variety of subjects that kids gravitated towards, the lesson library grew.
With just a few subtle shifts in how I approached teaching art, I went from feeling exhausted to energized.
I didn't need to be a seasoned artist, or an experienced teacher (after all, I got my start as a volunteer) or feel creative around the clock...
Because, for the first time, I had a plan for teaching art that worked for me and my students.
And I was FINALLY free from the nagging doubt that I was doing everything wrong.
This body of lessons grew and now, 15 years later, you can have it, too.
(That's exactly why I created The Sparklers’ Club.)
“Before the Sparklers’ Club, I felt so alone, and I doubted my worth as a teacher because I didn’t have anyone to talk to. Now, I have a large family inside The Sparklers’ Club — and it’s filled with love, support, encouragement.”
— Robin Polo Torres, K-6 Art Teacher
“Because there is the mind of a teacher behind every lesson, the projects really work as planned. The opportunity to have an art curriculum that was standards-based and grade level appropriate, with simple instructions saved me lots of time.”
— Janan Wurzbach, 3rd Grade Teacher
“I just want to say that I don't think being named Kansas Art Education Association's 2023 Outstanding K-12 Art Educator of the Year would've ever been possible without the support of this community and all of The Sparklers' Club amazing lessons and resources.”
— Kacie Ray Schmidt
AWARD-WINNING ART TEACHER
“Thank you to Deep Space Sparkle for so many of my lessons this year. This was my first year teaching and with your lessons, I produced the first art show in approximately 15 years within our district!”
— Ashley Rice
K-5 ART TEACHER
“I needed fresh ideas and art techniques after 30+ years of teaching. The club has given me ongoing enjoyment from teaching art to children — and seeing their pleasure at the results that they can achieve.”
— Kathy Summers
VETERAN ART TEACHER
“I appreciate the open-ended nature of Deep Space Sparkle’s lessons greatly. It’s nice to have such flexibility to modify each lesson. This is a huge reason why I’m part of this community. I personally know that inclusion and diversity are top priority for DSS, and they strive in everything they do to honor that. Thank you!”
— Shaylene Marie
ART TEACHER
The Sparklers’ Club isn't a lesson library—it's your creative partner for the long haul.
Here’s what makes TSC different from downloading lessons and hoping for the best:
📚 Curated Monthly Art Bundles Aligned with Your Teaching Calendar
Instead of a stream of random projects, our team of art educators releases bundles strategically timed to your school year—January winter scenes and artist connections when you need winter projects, spring florals when flowers bloom, end-of-year celebrations when you're exhausted. You're not just getting lessons; you're getting a thoughtfully designed art year.
🎨 Technique Mastery That Grows Your Confidence
Every month introduces new techniques, artists, and methods you haven't tried yet. Teachers who try new projects and experiment with new techniques don't just teach better art—they become better art teachers. The lessons teach your students, but the resources teach you.
👥 A Community That Solves Problems in Real-Time
Pinterest can't answer "How do I adapt this for my student with visual impairments?" or "This didn't work with my kindergarteners—what should I try?" Our 5K member community can, usually within the hour. That's the difference between a download and a community that shares your art room goals.
✨ Evolving Resources as Your Program Grows
Your art program next January won't look like it does today. As you grow, so do your needs—more sophisticated projects, cross-curricular connections, culturally diverse artists, accessible adaptations. TSC evolves with you, not against you.
“I thought I'd join for a year and have enough lessons forever. What I didn't realize was how much I'd grow as an art teacher, how my standards would rise, and how much I'd come to rely on monthly inspiration. Five years later, I can't imagine teaching without it.”
— Jennifer Dahl, Elementary Art Specialist (750+ students)
“The Sparklers Club is one of the most amazing things that has ever happened in my life. I love the lesson plans, the resources, the handouts, and the community! There is such an amazing group of people in this club.
I’m a founding Sparkler and I can't tell you how much pride I get out of saying that.”
— Amy Fetzner
K-6 ART TEACHER & GOLD STAR SPARKLER
“I had no training in art or teaching art other than a very short segment in Montessori training. I was expected to incorporate art into lessons from all the different disciplines.
I love how organized everything is on the TSC website and the volume/variety of lessons offered. Plus, the presentation of everything is so positive!”
— Meaghan Jackson
2nd and 3rd GRADE TEACHER
“Because of TSC, I feel like I can actually breathe…my lesson planning is stress free. Students are more engaged. I feel prepared. I make time to create my own art. I get to communicate with other art teachers. I can do professional development on my own time. I learn new techniques. I learn how to use different materials.”
- Felicia Watkins
VETERAN ART TEACHER & GOLD STAR SPARKLER
“Before I joined, I was feeling overwhelmed and had no clear plan of where to begin. I needed help, guidance and structure. It’s reassuring to know that if a day is disrupted or a lesson doesn't work, I can hop online and grab a Sparkler lesson that will be a hit.”
- Rebekah Dedrick
K-8 ART TEACHER & GOLD STAR SPARKLER
“Thank you for always making every lesson and support materials easier and better to use year after year! You make our teaching lives so much better. It’s nice to know that I have a place to go to find a lesson when I’m stuck or just too tired to create something from scratch.”
- Teresa Moorman Thain
K-6 ART TEACHER, LOS ANGELES & GOLD STAR SPARKLER
“After 25 years in a regular classroom, I made the switch to art this year. I will be the first to tell you, I’ve never considered myself and artist. Stick people can be a challenge. My sister-in-law recommended The Sparklers’ Club for my curriculum. It is a life saver!”
- Becky Mitchell-Moran
VETERAN CLASSROOM TEACHER TURNED ART TEACHER
Teachers ask us this all the time. Here’s the honest answer:
Free lessons are created by individuals.
TSC lessons are refined by 10 years + 30,000 teachers’ collective wisdom.
When you find a lesson through Pinterest, you’re crossing your fingers and hoping you’ll access the right link. When you access a TSC lesson, you’re getting:
“I used to spend hours on Pinterest cobbling together lessons, only to have half of them flop in the classroom. Now I use that time to actually connect with my students during art. The difference between free and professional is night and day.”
— Michelle R., 2nd Grade Teacher

— Jennifer, Elementary Art Teacher

Compare the alternatives:
Less than your daily coffee, but transforms your entire teaching year.
“When can I join? Can I start anytime?”
Our public enrollment window only opens twice per year.
Why We Only Open Twice a Year
Unlimited enrollment would compromise the intensive support and community experience we provide to every member. When you join during our January window, you're getting our team's full focus on your success—from personalized onboarding to active community moderation to curriculum guidance.
This isn't artificial scarcity. It's intentional quality.
“What if I start monthly—can I change my mind?”
Absolutely! You have complete flexibility:
Start monthly, see the value, then upgrade when you're ready to save money and get more benefits. Just email us at support@deepspacesparkle.com and we'll set you up.
“Can my school or district pay for this?”
Yes! Many schools love paying for memberships because we offer:
We provide: Letters of support, invoices, and purchase order processing to make approval easy.
“What happens to my bundles if I cancel?”
Once you download a bundle, the PDFs and slide decks are yours to keep forever—even if you cancel. Your lesson materials are stored in your downloads folder and remain accessible.
Note: We built TSC this way intentionally: we never want teachers to feel trapped or lose materials they've already integrated into their program.
That said, most teachers who cancel end up rejoining because they miss the monthly inspiration, community support, and new releases. But you're always free to come and go as your needs change.
“Are the lessons culturally diverse and inclusive?”
Yes! Diversity has always been one of our key initiatives:
Every child deserves to see themselves in art history and feel the joy of creating.
“The lessons look too polished—will my students' work really look like that?”
This is one of our most common questions, and we love it because it shows you're thinking about real classroom results. The answer: Yes, with our scaffolded approach, your students WILL create beautiful work—but it won't all look identical.
Here's why our results are so strong:
“Can I preview bundles before using my credits?”
Absolutely! Every bundle has a detailed preview showing exactly what's included—lesson images, technique focus, grade levels, and student examples. You'll never use a credit blindly. We want you to choose lessons you're genuinely excited to teach.
“I was skeptical about 'cookie-cutter' concerns until I taught my first TSC lesson. My students were so proud, parents were blown away, and I saw variety I never expected. The scaffolding doesn't restrict creativity—it unleashes it.”
— Taiye O, Art Teacher
